About the Founder

Dr. Tomas A. Pena is a career cybersecurity, technology, and cyber operations professional with over 30 years of professional experience. As a decorated senior military officer, Dr. Pena has led highly productive teams in functions including enterprise information technology management, military cyber operations planning, and space systems security engineering across both ground and space segments. Satellite security software he helped develop will be in Low Earth Orbit beginning in 2026. His passion for protecting national security systems and artificial intelligence led him to establishing Parallax Cyber LLC and establish the Space Systems Security Engineering Professional (S3EP) Certification Program to support the next generation of cybersecurity professionals.

Dr. Pena remains an active part of the system security engineering community through professional association with ISSA, (ISC)2, SANS, and INCOSE. He serves as the Executive Vice President for the Information Systems Security Association (ISSA) Colorado Springs (COS) chapter and regularly mentors professionals.

As Founder and President, Dr. Pena, established Parallax Cyber in 2019 to educate and train the cybersecurity workforce for the future and has grown content to focus on space systems. He retired from the U.S. Air Force as a Lieutenant Colonel after 20 years as a Master-level Cyberspace Operations officer. He maintains certifications in:
